System aXs Examples - EBAY

EBAY is the most popular auction site on the internet today, and there's a good chance that you have an account.

Keeping your password safe is very important for an EBAY user as someone could hijack your account, put up some high-value items in your name, and then run off with the money - destroying your reputation and landing you with a lot of explaining to do.

I couldn't tell you what my EBAY password was - System aXs generated it for me and provides it when required...

http://www.ebay.co.uk gets you to the site itself, but there is a direct route to logging in...

http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1

This will either take you to the Sign in page, or straight into your EBAY account if you signed in earlier and used the [ ] Keep me signed in for today option.

On similar sites its always worth seeing if you can capture the URL link from the Login button itself - It will save you a step.

Here we've right-clicked on the Logon button and got a pop-up menu. The 'Copy Shortcut' will generally give you a direct link that you can use.

Logon Shortcut

There is a danger that the short-cut could change.

It's currently

https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk

which is different to our earlier example. Both seem to work at the moment, but you may need to update it if it stops working.

Another thing to note is that the User ID has been remembered from a previous visit, so it would be useful to have the Password text available at this point to Paste.

Here we have out EBAY system entry showing in the Edit Tab.

Name is EBAY which is what is used to find this entry.

The User and Password details are your USER ID and Password details.

There is a tick in the PW [ ] box that shows that the Password will be placed ready in the Paste buffer.

If your User ID wasn't remembered then the Tick would be better in the User [ ] box.

The Acc Access string of http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyEbay&gbh=1 has also been copied in. The right-click pop-up menu 'Paste Over' open would have been useful here.

There is also a Q1 / A1 Pair of security question and Answer. This would be used if there was a problem with the account to prove who you were.

The Rename section shows that 'User ID' will replace the standard 'User Name' on the User Name button on the Find Tab. You can change the text on these two buttons to match the sites you are accessing.

Finally, we have a tick in the box next to a '+' symbol. This shows that this is a 'Top Pick' and will be placed higher up in any search we make on the Find Tab.

The eye symbol if selected will un hide all the hidden texts if you need to check and edit them.

This is what it looks like on the Find Tab.

Selecting the [Access] button will open up the EBAY logon page with the Password text ready to Paste.

You can tell this as the [Password] button text is bold.

The letter 'e' has been typed into the Find field to find the entry. You may have to add more letters to get a match.

There are 8 matches found for 'e' in this example, all of which can be selected from the drop-down list.

Selecting one of them will display it's options and will normally [Access] it at the same time.
