System aXs Examples - RBS

Being able to access your credit card account online is a very useful option when trying to keep your spending under control.

Every credit card that I've tried has had an online option.

RBS (Royal bank of Scotland) is slightly unusual in that it uses a double 'pick a character from your PIN or Password' option.

First things first, let's get a Logon link...

A nice simple one this : https://www.rbsdigital.com/ takes you straight to the logon page.

Note that it's only asking for one thing here - A Customer Number.

Once we've Pasted this in and selected the [Next >] button at the bottom of the page were taken to the next level of authentication...

Here it's asking for individual characters from our Security Number and Password.

Fortunately System aXs has a feature designed for this eventuality.

Here we have the Edit Tab set up for RBS access...

First the Name is 'RBS CC'

This allows us to find the entry with 'RBS' or as a list of 'CC' Credit Cards.

Here we have a Find example where we are using the 'CC' search string, as you can see there are several 'CC' Credit Card entries...

Then we have the Acc string of https://www.rbsdigital.com/ that takes you to the login page.

The User details here are the Customer Number, and 'Cust Num' has been typed into the User button field, so it's shown on the User button on the Find Menu. The User [ ] button next to the entry is ticked, so that info will be placed in the Paste buffer when you 'Access' the site.

An email address has also been added as a Q/A pair. This is to remember what Email address we are known as to RBS and may be required for a password reset or other access problem.

At the bottom we have hidden strings in the ChrX and Chr X2 fields. These are our Security Number and Password.

Note that the normal Password field isn't used in this case.

We haven't deemed this entry to be important, so the '+ [ ]' Top Pick box remains un ticked.

And here we have the entry in the Find Tab...

The [Access] button will take us to the first Login Page.

The [Cust Num] button is Bold to show that the info is ready in the Paste buffer - This is because we have used the [Access] button.

The Chr X and Chr X2 buttons are for the second level of authentication...

The example above requires the 2nd, 1st and 3rd Numbers from your Security Number.

The security number was copied into the Chr X entry, and now shows as five buttons.

Clicking the 2nd button puts that character into the Paste buffer and also shows it in the little window to the right.

You can then select the input field on the site and Paste the value in.

Some sites don't allow Paste, they give you a drop-down menu to pick from. In which case you would note the number '4' in this case shown in the little window and select that on the web page.

The Password is stored in the Chr X2, in here it's asking for the 2nd, 5th and 8th characters.

As before, click on the numbered buttons and the value will be placed in the Paste buffer and the value will appear in the window to the right.

Bold text signifies that a button's text is in the Paste buffer ready to use. In the example above you may notice that the [2] and [4] buttons are bold after we selected the [2] button. This is because they both hold the same value which is '4'.

System aXs 3 has two Chr X options. If you're still using version 2.x then you can use individual Q/A buttons to handle the Security Number in this case.
